Nate smiled as she spoke, she mentioned boarding school and he couldn’t help but notice how long ago that was. He felt like it was in another life time, he remembered that being the longest year of his life. But that was forever ago. Nate continued to smile, he liked seeing how excited she was about her trip, she really did need it. he chuckled a bit, “i’m sure he’d do it in a second too… and he’d have a super exotic name too,” he said shaking his head and taking another sip of his beer. he didn’t want to go too hard tonight, so he was sticking to beer. 

Nate’s eyes narrowed at her as she said she wouldn’t tell him what it meant, “well at least i got a piece of it right,” he said just simply proud of that. He almost thought he didn’t learn anything in the spanish classes he took, but there were a few words he would notice here and there. “Full honesty mode, huh?” he bit his lip as he thought about what to ask her, “how many questions do i get?” he asked with a smirk. He put his glass down and rubbed his hands together as he thought of a good question. 

“Hmm damn I can’t think of an exotic name right now” Serena chuckled and rolled her eyes “something like Andres… or even more exotic than that I hope” She chuckled and downed the rest of her drink. Quickly ordering a refill. Dry martinis always seemed to make her feel better something she didn’t quiet understand.  ”I just hope my plane doesn’t get cancelled again. The weather isn’t so good right now” she made a face and glanced down at her Marchesa dress who got ruined by the pouring rain. She just sighed and rolled her eyes again. 

“Yes you got one word right.. and the rest of the sentence? you can look it up on the dictionary” she chuckled as she gave him a gentle and playful nudge. Serena nodded her head when he echoed her words “Yes full honesty mode I promise” she smirked and brought her hand to her heart “See you have my word” She chuckle and grabbed her glass taking a long gulp before she replied to Nate’s question “well..” she trailed of and smirked. “You get 10 questions.. sounds fair right?” she grinned raising both of her eyebrows as she waited for his answer.

Nate laughed, “i would if i could, but Spain’s not ready for me yet,” he joked. He nodded, “maybe you could use some time to yourself, could be refreshing,” he shrugged lightly. He tilted his head up at her question and thought about it for a second, “yeah, i guess so…” Nate readjusted himself in the seat as she prepared to say something to him in spanish, and ordered a beer. He looked over at Serena as she began and smiled the entire way through, “i think everyone in Spain are going to think you’re one of their own,” he laughed. “What’d you say anyways? the only word I understood was ‘eyes’… shows how much i pay attention in spanish,” he said with a light chuckle. Wow, he really didn’t pay attention in school.

“i think she’d like that, she could use a familiar face,” he let out a small laugh at the memory of the last time Serena and his mom saw each other. He had almost forgotten that that was the last time they had seen each other, he had to admit, it was a slightly funny memory. “I’m sure it’ll be fine, she’s had too much on her mind to remember that. well at least i hope so” he laughed a little. “i think you’ll be fine,” he nodded, reassuringly.

Nate looked up at her as she answered his question, she seemed really surprised by his question but her answer couldn’t haven’t been any more perfect. He smiled a little, “thanks…” he looked down at the beer in his hands and just shook his head. “Just wondering…” he lied and took a drink of his beer, closing his eyes as the cold beverage made its way down his throat.

“Yeah.. that was exactly what I was thinking” Serena nodded her head, smiling. ”This would be the first time I’m alone since well… boarding school” She wrinkled her nose and shrugged her shoulders. “But this is going to be way better than boarding school, I’m really looking forward on traveling alone especially in a country as exotic as Spain. I can’t wait to go to Barcelona and Madrid and maybe I’ll meet a hot spanish guy” Serena laughed softly “and I’ll make him come all the way to New York with me” She chuckled and nodded her head. Focusing on the barman now, as she ordered another dry martini.

“aw thanks but my spanish isn’t as good as theirs” She smirked and drank a big gulp of her martini without even grimacing. She placed it back on the bar as she listened to what he had to say. “well that’s for me to know and for you..” she poked his chest with her index finger as she spoke out the word ‘you’ “to find out” She chuckled and a small coy smirk appeared on her lips. “But yes, it has something to do with your eyes” she winked playfully at him.

“Well in that case I’m going to go see her very soon then” Serena smiled and nodded her head. She’d do anything she could to make Anne Archibald feel better, because if his mom felt better she was sure that Nate would be feeling better as well.. and there you go that would be her good deed of the day. Not that she always did that but Nate was her friend and she wanted him to be okay.

Just wondering uh huh. She thought, she had assumed it was something more than a simple ‘just wondering’. She didn’t pressed the subject thinking she might not be the person he wanted to talk that particular subject with. Instead she just nodded her head at him and smiled “Anything else you want to know?” She chuckled bringing her glass to her lips. “I’m in a full honesty mode right now, so I’d take advantage of that if I were you” She added with a smirk.

Nate nodded, he had never been there either, but it sounded like a pretty good place to go away too. “Well, you’ll have to tell me how it is… i might want to go someday,” he smiled. “Are you going alone?” he asked taking a drink. He laughed a little at her spanish comment, “let’s hope so. tell me something in spanish… i wanna see if you at least sound like you know what you’re saying,” he chuckled, just messing with her.

He was grateful that she didn’t press the subject of what was wrong with him, because he really just didn’t want to talk about it. Nate nodded as she hugged him, “yeah, a few days ago he got out,” he replied. “I will, if he’s still around.. he’s being charged with a few things, so who knows what’ll happen,” he shrugged. “But my mom’s happy that he’s home… you should have seen her when he was gone,” he shook his head.

Nate probably frightened serena a bit by asking if he could ask a question, but he didn’t mean to. It was just about something that had been running through his mind the last two days and it bothered him. He waited a few seconds before asking, finishing up what was in his glass. “Do you think…i’m stupid?” he asked, “like… academically…” He knew it was a weird question to ask, but he just needed another opinion. He didn’t think he was, i mean he knew things, school just wasn’t something that kept his attention.

“Well you should join me and see it for yourself” she chuckled jokingly. “Um, I think so” She tilted her head to the side and nibbled on her lower lip “I mean, Rachel was supposed to come with me but I never heard from her again so I guess that means I’m going alone” She nodded her head firmly “But I don’t mind being alone.. I’m more of the suffer in silence type” she laughed softly “and besides, have you ever feel like you can be surrounded by a sea of people and still feel alone?” she finished what was left of the drink as she asked the question. Knowing it was probably an odd question to ask.

 ”Hmm tell you something in spanish?” She smirked tapping her chin “Okay.. if you insist” She added “Con tus ojos tan hermosos y profundos como el mar, son muy pocos los momentos que te dejo de admirar” Serena chuckled again, messing with him. “Do I sound good or not?” she asked with an eyebrow raised as a coy smirk began playing on her lips.

“Don’t worry about your Dad, I’m sure things are you going to finally be better for everyone of you. Especially your mom..” She said with a slight nodding of her head. “Hmm I should go see your mom before I leave and bring her something” She added “I just hope she doens’t remember the last the we saw each other” Serena wrinkled her nose and blushed at the memory.

“What?” Serena frowned slightly and tilted her head to the side “of course you’re not stupid Nate” She looked up at him disapprovingly “what makes you think that?” she asked. “School is just.. something you’re not particularly fond of but I’m sure that if you liked it a bit you would do better” She said as a small smile graced her full lips.

Nate laughed a bit and shook his head, she really was oblivious to her own beauty but he found that cute. He looked down at her dress, it was a little ruined but that didn’t mean she looked any different. She looked great in everything she wore, even if she put on a potatoe sack she could somehow make it look good. “Well once you get out of this place, you’ll have better weather, that’s for sure. So Spain, huh?” he asked. He knew she’d probably need a getaway after everything that went down, most of them did whenever something like that happened. Getting away from the place seemed like the perfect medicine, at least for the mean time.

Nate shrugged, “just stuff, i don’t really want to talk about it,” he nodded. “Did i tell you my dad got out of rehab?” he asked, that was a good thing, right? Yeah, something was wrong, but he really couldn’t talk about it with Serena. In fact, he didn’t want to talk about it with any of the girls. He took another sip and looked up at Serena, nodding lightly, “yeah, i believe we are friends…” he said. It was about time the two talked again, and he’d be lying if he said he didn’t miss her being apart of his life. “Can I ask you a question?” he asked, “following this one of course,” he chuckled.

“You’re so right about that” Serena chuckled and nodded her head in agreement. “Spain, that’s correct” she added with a small smirk “I’ve never been there before so I thought it would be nice change and besides taking Ap spanish class has to pay of right?” she chuckled again extending out her arm to drank her martini, taking a small sip from it. She was really looking forward to go to spain everytime she wanted to ran away she only had one destination in mind: Paris, and honestly she needed a place more exciting than Paris itself. And probably Barcelona would be the perfect place for her getway.

Serena took another long sip of her drink and nodded her head when Nate said he didn’t wanted to talk about it, and she understood that. She wasn’t going to push the subject any further. Serena’s eyes immediately went wide with both surprise and happiness “Are you serious?” Serena placed her glass on the table and grab Nate’s wrist pulling him into a tight hug “I’m so happy to hear that Nate” she said honestly. Smiling wide as she did so. She pulled back and looked at him “Remind me to go visit the captain when I back” she smirked.

‘Can I ask you a question?’ oh uh Serena thought. She just hoped it wasn’t nothing involving Dan, she was really doing her hardest not to think about it but it seemed like people weren’t letting her do that. But Serena quickly placed a forced smile on her lips and looked back at him “Of course you can” She nodded her head “Ask away” she said as she kept looking at him straight in the eyes. Waiting for his question.
